How it works
The FirstFold product is built as a simple ritual: choose what matters, let the platform prepare the edition, scan at a kiosk, and receive a folded newspaper designed for a specific read length.
Users can describe what they care about in natural language or manually select topics, locations, publications, industries, sports teams, entertainment categories, and read time.
The platform translates preferences into a reader profile: required topics, optional interests, geographic weight, excluded content, frequency, tone, and edition size.
The engine finds eligible source material, ranks relevance, composes print-ready summaries, applies source rules, and generates a layout that fits the selected paper size.
The user arrives at a kiosk, scans a phone, enters a code, or taps a wallet pass. The kiosk prints, cuts, folds, and dispenses the edition.
The experience ends by design. No push alerts. No next-video loop. No endless refresh. The product is finished when the paper is finished.
Kiosk concept
The kiosk is part vending machine, part print shop, part nostalgic newsstand. It should look trustworthy, simple, and fast.
Touchscreen, QR scanner, access code entry, status display, receipt support, accessibility controls, and clear error messaging.
Multi-roll paper supply, automatic roll switching, cutter, folding mechanism, waste capture, jam access, and print-quality sensors.
Wi-Fi and cellular failover, remote kiosk monitoring, secure print queue, payment integration, OTA updates, and maintenance alerts.
Slim cabinet, standard-door clearance, secure service doors, anchored base option, and a friendly newsstand-inspired face.
Paper inventory tracking, low-ink alerts if ink-based, print logs, cleaning access, modular printer drawer, and quick field replacement.
Subscriptions, single-issue purchases, property-owner partnerships, local sponsorships, publisher licensing, and premium vertical editions.
Start with the website, waitlist, preference demo, sample editions, and partner-facing pitch. The first physical kiosk can follow after validating repeat interest and edition formats.
User accounts, saved profiles, payment, kiosk locator, edition archive, source logs, publisher permissions, contributor submissions, and admin review workflows.
